Kokoya Gold Mine
The Kokoya Gold Mine is located northeast of Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia. Operations commenced in 2016 with a capacity of 650,000 tonnes per year. The average output is expected to remain at ninety-five percent.
Youga Gold Mine
The Youga Gold Mine is located approximately 180 km southeast of Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso. Youga commenced operations in 2008 with plant capacity of one million tonnes per year and the average gold recovery is anticipated to remain steady at 93 to 94 percent. The gold is extracted via gravity supported conventional CIL circuit.
Youga is a hard rock, drill and blast mining operation where the load haul is carried out under contract with PW Mining International Limited. Grid power is delivered to site from Ghana via a 21 km transmission line. A complete backup diesel generated power supply capable of delivering 8 megawatts is at the site.
Year round supply of water is obtained from the Nakambe River via an 11 km long pipeline to a raw water storage pond. The tailings area is designed to maximize water recovery in an effort to minimize the primary water demand.
Youga employs approximately 664 workers in total, including 366 full time MNG Gold employees and 298 contractors. Most of the work force is local, with foreign workers counting for less than 4% of the total workforce. The Corporation is focused on training and development of the local employees for management and supervisory roles.
In 2015, Youga produced 68,407 ounces of gold.
